Trunk-Mount Bike Racks Approved for 2018 Kia Sorento with Roof Spoiler

Question:

Looking at some reviews here Lexus RX 350 and a 2005 Kia Sorento, they said this rack fits No idea why its not compatible with my 2018 Kia Sorento? Its pretty much the same door style

The Thule OutWay 2-Bike Trunk-Mount Platform Rack # TH65JV is a confirmed fit on the 2005 Kia Sorento but has not been determined by Thule to be a suitable fit on the 2018 model year.

Even though the general profile of the rear hatch is very similar to the 2005 Sorento, the 2018 model year has a larger roofline spoiler which would be damaged by the full weight of this rack when loaded with two bikes. The OutWay by itself weighs about 45-lbs and when mounted on the car and loaded with bikes the weight put on the car's roofline spoiler by the rack's top installation cables could be likely to damage the spoiler.

In fact, no standard platform style trunk-mount racks are recommended for this vehicle.

Hollywood Racks Over-the-Top 2 # HRF2 and the 3-bike version # HRF2-3, both of which are expressly designed to work on vehicles with the type of roofline spoiler that is on the 2018 Sorento.
