Tekonsha Brake Controller Shows Trailer Connected without a Trailer
Question:
I just installed the curt Adapter 4 Pole to 7 Pole and 4 Pole w/Test Lamp as well as a Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller item #90885. I installed the items exactly as instructed. The brake controller led screen is saying the trailer is hooked up. .C. Any advice?

The little LED lights in the Curt 4- to 7-Way adapter # C57674 must be making the brake controller think that a trailer is connected. You could disconnect the light from the connector and if the controller no longer shows that a trailer is connected that would confirm that the light was tricking the controller.
If it still shows that a trailer is connected then there is a short somewhere that is drawing power from the brake controller. Brake controllers send back a little voltage to check for a trailer. A light or a short would draw power so if it isn't the light then you would need to track down the short somewhere between the controller and the 7-Way. Check for any pinched or damaged wire (along the blue wire between the controller and 7-Way) and fix as needed.
