Info Needed to Pick Out Replacement Leaf Spring for Trailer

Question:

I have a trailmaster boat trailer that needs leaf springs replaced. It is a single axle trailer that holds a 1999 Lund Pro V 1775 boat. Im having difficulties determining the right size leaf spring. Currently has 3 leaf double eye springs. Cant get an accurate size of springs with the weight of the boat on the trailer. Any assistance is appreciated.

The trick to picking out replacement leaf springs for a trailer is to first determine what axle capacity you need and then pick out the spring that is the right length. Worst case scenario you have to move hangers but the priority is the correct capacity. If you can get me the axle capacity which may be stamped on the axle or the plate near the coupler of the trailer we can figure out where to start.

Typical Axle Diameters Based on Axle Capacity
- 1,000-lb - 2,000-lb Axles: 1-1/2 inch - 1-3/4 inch diameter
- 3,500-lb Axles: 2-3/8 inch diameter
- 6,000-lb - 7,200-lb Axles: 3 inch diameter
- 8,000-lb Axles: 3-1/2 inch diameter
- 9,000-lb Axles: 4 inch diameter
- 10,000-lb Or more axles: 5 inch diameter
