Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 400 lbs Tongue Weight

Question:

I currently have an Equalizer 400/4000lb system which my RV dealer installed. I am pulling with a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SE, AWD with V6. Pulling a 2017 RPod with advertised tongue weight under 300lbs. I have not weighed but am convinced I am exceeding 400lbs when loaded. I am looking to upgrade the hitch which will eventually move to a new tow vehicle, and a new trailer no more than 6000lbs. Which WD system may serve my current setup and accommodate my potential new system? I would prefer ease of use, and being able to back up without disconnecting the WD system. Thank you

The Reese Trunnion Weight Distribution System part # RP66540 would be a great choice. It has a tongue weight range of 200-600 lbs and is a simple yet effective design. It also will allow backing up as long as it's mainly in a straight line. This is the case for basically all weight distribution systems though. As long as you aren't jackknifing the trailer you can leave the spring bars connected. Otherwise you'll need to disconnect them.
