The PL error code on the Tekonsha P2, # 90885, indicates that there was a power interruption when stepping on the brakes. The SH error code indicates that there is a short circuit at idle. Both of these problems could be caused by a bad ground connection.
If you have hardwired the controller to the vehicle, make sure that the ground is connected to the negative battery terminal. The white wire is the ground. Black is for 12 volt power. You will need to test the wiring with a circuit tester like # 3808. The black wire should show power when the brake controller is on. The ground should not show power.
The blue wire should show a signal when the brake is pressed or manual override is pushed. The red wire should only show a signal when the brake pedal is pressed. If they show power at any other time then there is a short circuit somewhere.
On your truck, there is a plug-in wiring harness that fits the brake controller on one end and a port under the dash on the other end. It is # 3015-P. It plugs into an electrical junction box to the left of the brake pedal. There will be an empty slot in the top row, second from the left.
