Durability of Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs With Heavy Winter Road Salt Exposure

Question:

How does the Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs - Double Convoluted - Rear Axle Item # F2702 hold up in salty road conditions? I live in Rochester, NY where all winter long salt is used on the roads.

Expert Reply:

Road salt and other materials often don't mix well but the Firestone kits we sell are made with very durable natural rubber compounds that resist the negative effects of salt exposure as well as heat and cold. I completely understand your concerns, having attended college in upstate NY (Oswego) where the term 'winter' can take on a whole new meaning!

Firestone provides a Limited Lifetime Warranty on the actual rubber air springs in their kits, such as # F2709 which fits your truck so no need to worry.

If a mild day comes along once in a while that allows you to hose off the springs with fresh water (or at the car wash) this is a great idea but you need not worry about the integrity of the springs from salt exposure.
