Measuring for the Gooseneck Hitch Ball Hole on a 2018 Ford F-350

Question:

I have a 2018 f350 4wd with a 6 3/4 ft box. I have the 1117 turnover hitch and will be installing it soon. I have measured the 45 1/2 inches from the rear of the bed and it falls 5/16 of an inch short of the dimple that is stamped in the box. I have used two tape measures to insure the measurement is correct. So is 45 1/2 inches a good measurement and should I be concerned where the mark is as compared to the dimple? Just double checking.

There are two possible causes that you are coming up just shy of 45-1/2" when installing the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1116 on your 2018 Ford F-350 with the 6-3/4' bed. The first of which would be if you had a spray-on or drop in bedliner. The thickness of the bedliner will need to be taken into consideration when measuring from the rear of the bed to the center hole. The next issue would be the tape measure. Most tape measures do not start at zero. There could very well be 1-1/6" - 3/16" difference between where the metal clip sits and where zero starts on the tape measure. One or both of these could be the reason why you are off the 5/16" you mentioned so it is something to keep in mind. However, using the center of the dimple is going to be the safest bet.

I have attached an install video of this hitch on a 2017 F-350 for you. The process is the same.
