Will the Replacement Handle # DL70346 Fit the Dutton-Lainson Winch # DL14958

Question:

Is the drum steel? I would like to use a handwheel but I need to know if I can put one on so I need to know the tread and opening dimensions of this. I was also wondering what you would recomend for a 2500 lb boat. Is there anything better for me ? I am looking at the DL14958. Thank you very much.

Boat winches typically can easily handle a boat that is rated twice their capacity as long as it is being pulled onto a trailer with standard carpeted bunk boards. If you are using rollers it can handle more weight but if you are using wooden bunks the ratio is much closer to 1:1. This means that the Hand Winch # DL14958, which is rated for 2,500 lbs, would likely be a great fit for your application!

The great thing about this is that if you were to use the Dutton-Lainson winch then the B Series Brake Winch Ratcheting Replacement Handle # DL70346 is a direct fit and you wouldn't have to do any comparisons. This winch is compatible with up to 40' of 5/16" cable like part # DL24102.
