Prodigy P2 Upgrade Using Prodigy Original Wiring Harness
Question:
When I purchased this 2007 GMC sierra classic 1500 ,SLT cab, it had a Tekonsha brake controller hard wired into it, this is a original prodigy not a P2. I assume the plug in on the back of the controller differs from the original to the P2 controller. If so can I get a adapter from existing plug to plug into the P2 for the upgrade? If not this truck came from factory with trailer package, will there be a factory installed trailer plug in wiring harness that I can run a adapter from to P2?

The original Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller had the same wiring connection as the newer P2 # 90885 and P3 # 90195 units. If you wish to use the hardwired pigtail, it will be directly compatible with these units for an upgraded brake controller so you can simply plug and play.
Since your vehicle has the factory tow package your can alternatively use the wiring adapter # 3015-P. The custom connector end plugs into the electric junction box beneath the dash of your vehicle and the other end connects directly into the back of most Tekonsha or Draw-Tite brake controllers.
