Clearance refers to the clearance from the top and sides of the tires to the fender wells on your vehicle. You want to make sure there is plenty of room between the tires and the suspension components and body of the truck. Usually there is plenty of clearance on trucks, but you will want to check your vehicle owners manual to see if tire chains are allowed to be used or recommended for your Chevrolet C/K Series Truck. If your truck is lowered or has modified suspension or wheels, clearance could become an issue.

When using snow tire chains, mounting the chains to the powered drive wheels of the vehicle is recommended. So, since your truck is rear wheel drive you would want the chains on the rear drive wheels. If driving in 4-wheel drive you could use a set of chains on the front and rear wheels, or just the rear wheels.

If you can send me the size of tires on your C/K Series Truck, I would be glad to recommend a set of snow tire chains.

You will want to also check your local state laws for use of chains. I have linked an FAQ on tire chains.
