Material and Construction of Draw-Tite 2 Inch Ball Mount # 4285

Question:

I noticed that the weld on the 4285 has no brace welded in it. What makes it ultra heavy duty with the butt weld and no brace. I need the extra three inches length and saw this hitch and I am a little worried about the way it is welded. Other than that it is just what I need to tow my heavy boat. Thank You in advance as I know you are busy.

The Draw-Tite Ball Mount, # 4285, does not include a gusset welded between the shank and platform. Basically, it is not needed. This ball mount is constructed of solid steel. The shank is solid with the only hole in it for the hitch pin. It is welded to the platform which is also solid steel.

All of this solid steel construction makes for a heavy ball mount. This one weighs in at over 19 pounds. It is heavy duty enough to earn its 12,000 pound capacity. I also made a short video showing the ball mount and the weight of it for you.
