Can the Draw-Tite Front Receiver # 65062 be Used to Move a Trailer with a 630 lb Tongue Weight

Question:

I have a 26 ft. camper trailer that I park on a slab extension to my driveway...there is no incline or decline...its level...however there is about a 3 ft. offset from straight to access the slab at the end of the driveway extension where the trailer will be parked. If a person is really good backing the trailer they can make it work...the trailer is 8 ft. wide going through an 11 ft. gate....thus there are close clearances. In my experience a trailer can be driven pushed with much greater control than backed so I want to see if I can install a front hitch and push the trailer into its parking spot....I have a 2016 Ram 4x4 Lone Star with tow hooks...the trailer tongue weight is 630 pounds....I wanting to know if I can use this front hitch to push my trailer into parking position....it will only be pushed no more than 50-60 ft. Any recommendations...

The Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65062, which is a fit for your 2016 Ram 1500, has a gross trailer weight rating of 5,000 lbs and a tongue weight (TW) rating of 500 lbs. The only way that you would be able to move your camper trailer which this front mount hitch is if the 630 lbs you mentioned is with it fully loaded and when you unload your trailer it weighs much closer to the 500 lb TW rating.

If the unloaded TW of your trailer is 630 lbs then I recommend using a Trailer Valet XL instead. Part # TVXL2 has a 2" hitch ball while part # TVXL25 has a 2-5/16" hitch ball. Both come with the ability to easily move your trailer with the hand crank or with the included drill attachment (part # TVDA). Since these have a TW rating of 1,000 lbs you won't have to worry about damaging your equipment.
