Determining Rise or Drop Needed on Ball Mount for 2012 Honda Pilot Pulling BBQ Trailer
Question:
I will be using a 2012 Honda Pilot EXL to tow a Meadow Creek BBQ smoker trailer model TS250 w/ a BBQ42. Trailer wheel size is 15. My question is what would be the required drop needed if any to be as level as possible.

In order to determine what drop, if any, is needed on a ball mount to tow your Meadow Creek BBQ trailer level with your Honda Pilot, you will just need to take a quick measurement on both the Pilot and the trailer.
Starting on your Honda Pilot with it parked on level ground, take a measurement from the ground to the top of the hitch receiver. Then on the trailer, measure from the ground to the bottom of the coupler. If the measurement you took on the vehicle is greater, you know you need a ball mount with a drop. If the measurement you took on the trailer is greater, you will actually need a ball mount with a rise. The difference between the two measurements will tell you the amount or drop or rise you need. I have attached a great article on exactly this subject that you might also find helpful.
The Draw-Tite Ball Mount # 2753 that you were looking at can be used for either a 4 inch drop or a 2-3/4 inch rise.
