Bike Rack and Cargo Carrier Recommendation for Rear of Chevy Tahoe

Question:

I have a 2009 Chevy Tahoe and I want to attach my cargo carrier and hitch mounted bike rack to the rear. I have a dual hitch mount extender and I want the bike rack to go under the carrier. The connections dont reach, so I connected 2 extenders to make it work. This results in the cargo carrier and the rack adding an additional 3.5 feet of length behind the vehicle. I am wondering if if this is a safe installation or if it will cause damage to my hitch/ vehicle. See picture below for reference.

Helpful Expert Reply:

Any time you use a single hitch extender you cut the capacity of the hitch by 50 percent. Using two extenders is not recommended as the length and movement added ends up being dangerous for hitch.

The only solution we have that will allow you to carry both bikes and cargo would be the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider part # HR1450Z-85 which gives you a 2 bike platform rack and a cargo carrier.
