Thule T2 Compatibility with Class I Hitch Receiver
Question:
Hi, I am curious as to if the Thule T2 for 4 bikes will fit on a 1.25 T2. I currently am looking at purchasing the T2 1.25 for my Mazda3 class I hitch, but I would eventually like to connect it to my Tundra with a 2-1.25inch reducer such as your Item # HT02 and keep more bikes on it. From what I can tell the T2 Add-On will fit on the T2 1.25inch because it looks like it has the hole for the bolt to connect the two racks. From what I can tell is the 1.25inch T2 shank is a different size by adding a 1.25inch bar onto a 2inch bar. Obviously I cannot use the add on for my Mazda3 because it would far over weigh the class 1 hitch. I believe this is the only way to get a Thule 1.25 work for my truck to carry 4 bikes with this style hitch. 95 of the time, I carry my bikes on my Mazda3. Thank you for your help.

The Thule T2 # TH9045 will not allow you to add the additional 2 bikes. The add-on feature that we had only worked on 2" versions of the classic, not the 1.25" versions. As you said, you will not be able to carry more than two bikes with a class 1 hitch. I do have a solution for you.
We can't get you into a platform style because all 4 bike platform racks require the 2 inch receiver based on the weight and design. The alternative is to use a hanging rack like the Thule Apex 4 Bike Rack for 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Tilting # TH9025XT. This will allow you to only carry 2 bikes on your class I hitch but up to 4 on your 2 inch hitch. I have attached a video review of this carrier for you.
