How to Find the Correct Drop When Using Weight Distribution System

Question:

I have a 2018 Ram 2500 diesel truck and I am pulling a keystone hideout travel trailer. I also have a Blue Ox sway pro on the trailer with the 10 hole shank. I have one hole left on the shank before it is maxed out for the drop. I have found that my trailer rides lower in the back and is not level. How would I go about making it level when it is on truck? Thanks

What you need is a shank that will offer you the right amount of drop and to know what you need you are going to have to take a couple measurements. First, make sure both your 2018 Ram 2500 and Keystone Hideout Travel Trailer are parked on level ground; you'll then want to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver. Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two measurements, which is the amount of drop you will need.

Weight distribution systems have shanks that are often interchangeable, so if you needed 9" of drop, for example, you may be able to use the Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4400 which is 12" long, fits 2" receivers and has a tongue weight capacity between 600 lbs and 1,400 lbs.

If you let me know the amount of drop you need and what system you are using I can make a more specific recommendation for you.
