Does 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Need Stoplight Switch Kit

Question:

Want to go with a modular system because I am looking to replace the Wrangler at some point and do not want to purchase/install another braking system. Am contemplating the Patriot II wireless transmitter braking system. Already installed the Demco Tow arm, faceplate and wiring harness. The bus successfully operates the vehicle lights. Concerns: Will this system drain my battery after a 300-mile-per-day travel schedule? Do I need a RM-751451 stoplight switch kit: and what function does this switch add to my system? Thanks 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unltd model X, standard shift 6-speed

The Blue Ox Patriot III # BRK2019 would be a great choice as a supplemental braking system for your 2009 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited and it will require the use of the RoadMaster Stop Light Switch Kit # RM-751452.

What this kit does is activate your motorhome's monitoring system to alert you when your Jeep's brake pedal is being pressed. It is a safeguard so you know the supplemental system is working properly and your Jeep's brakes aren't being activated at all times.

Your '09 Wrangler Unlimited does need to have its battery disconnected when being flat towed so to use the Blue Ox Patriot you are also going to want to use the Roadmaster 12 Volt Outlet Kit # RM-9332, so the battery is not going to be drained. If you take a look at this kit's linked instructions it details how you need to use the kit if the battery must be disconnected.
