Where to Install the Stromberg Carlson Ladder on a Travel Trailer
Question:
Given the sometimes hit or miss construction of some travel trailers, I would like to mount my own ladder for roof access just so I dont come tumbling down because someone didnt attach the ladder properly. What do you do with an aluminum framed trailer as far as locating the framing for proper anchoring. Would it be possible to locate attachment points using a magnet? I know stainless and magnets dont attract, but what about aluminum and magnets? Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

When installing a ladder like the Stromberg Carlson RV Exterior Ladder # LA-401 we always recommend contacting the manufacturer unless you are using it as a replacement. The reason being that you don't want to compromise the integrity of your travel trailer but it does need to be installed on solid anchor points.
It is possible to try locating some supports (magnets won't work with aluminum) but I would contact the manufacturer or a shop that regularly installs ladders just to be safe.
