Most 5th wheel hitches will be mounted so that the trailer king pin is either centered over the rear truck axle or slightly in front if the axle center line. It really depends on the installation kit used. On a 1982 Chevy C10 I recommend Reese universal installation kit # RP30035. With this kit installed the center of the king pin will be approximately 3-1/2 inches forward of the center of the rear axle. I have linked the installation instructions for you.
