How to Tow Fifth Wheel Trailer with Ram Truck that has Ram Boxes Installed
Question:
bandw has a gooseneck 5th wheel hitch my question will it give me the height i need to clear the ram boxes? i believe it goes to 18inch maybe 19 the other option would be to go with a different hitch to gain more height? i am towing a vanleigh 370. My truck is a 2018 ram 3500 megacab with ram boxes. thanks

The only solution for towing a fifth wheel trailer with a Ram Box truck so that you can make turns without interference is a Sidewinder pin box on the trailer.
The problem with the Ram Box is that is that it puts the rails of the bed too close together and it causes interference with the pin box of the trailer around corners.
We have heard several customers say that with a Sidewinder pin box they were able to tow a fifth wheel trailer with a truck with a Ram Box. Sidewinders move the pivot point higher so the Ram Box wouldn't interfere.

You cannot use a B and W Companion gooseneck hitch style hitch with a Sidewinder though as Sidewinders require the use of a hitch that attaches in four corners and not just the center post like the B and W hitches like you mentioned do.
