Will Spare Tire Cover Fit with Thule Spare Me Bike Rack Base Installed on a 2011 Toyota RAV4

Question:

I know the new plate will fit the 2011 rav4 , Want to know if I can leave the plate on , remove the rack and put the rigid plastic tire cover back on when not using the rack. How far does the plate piece stick out from the rim , is in flush ? Thanks

In order to determine if the mounting base of the Thule Spare Me 2 Bike Carrier, # TH963PRO, can be left in place to put the cover on your spare tire, you will need to measure. With the spare tire off of the vehicle, measure the distance from the mounting surface for the tire out to the back of the spare tire (furthest point straight back).

If that distance is greater than 3-1/4 inches, then you can leave the Spare Me base on with the tire cover on your 2011 Toyota RAV4.

If you will be carrying womens, childrens, or alternative frame bikes, I recommend using the Bike Adapter Bar, # TH982XT, in order to carry the bikes more level. I have included a link to a video showing how the adpater works.
