The first thing I would do is check the tow package fuses in the power distribution box under the hood of your truck. There should be one for brake and one for turn signals. If the fuses are blown there has been a short and you should check the trailer wiring out before reconnecting the truck to the trailer.

If that does not solve the issue, you should check the wiring under the back of the vehicle for possible damage. Sometimes the trailer wiring connector can become damaged, or the wiring can get pulled hard enough to cause an issue. While under the rear of the truck, make sure that the ground wire for the trailer connector is attached securely to the vehicle frame.

If there is no apparent damage, use a circuit tester, # PTW2993, to test the wires going into the trailer connector. If you have power for the right turn and brake signal going in, and not coming out, then the connector is most likely bad and will need to be replaced. The twist in 7-Way connector, # PK11916, should be the correct replacement for your truck. If there is not power on the brake/turn circuit, you will need to continue testing the wiring until the source of the problem is found.
