Recommended 4-Bike Bike Rack for Use with the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275  

Question:

My bike rack needs to hold 4 bikes 2 adult and 2 Kids, but the rack says it only holds 2 must be because of weight is there another option, I have seen pictures of them wit 4 bikes, will it be too much strain?

If the bike rack that you have now states that it can only hold 2 bikes then I definitely do not recommend trying to carry 4. It definitely has to do with the weight capacity of the bike rack plus the distribution of that weight.

To utilize the Stromberg Carlson Bike Bunk # CC-275 to carry 4 bikes on the tongue of your trailer I highly recommend going with the Swagman Trailhead # S63381. The Trailhead is rated for use on a trailer and can carry up to 4 bikes that weigh 35 lbs. Since the bike bunk has a weight capacity of 100 lbs though you will need to subtract about 30 lbs for this bike rack. That leaves you with 70 lbs for all 4 of your bikes. If all of your bikes weigh in under 70 lbs then you are good to go!

The Trailhead doesn't come with locks but you can add them using the anti-rattle hitch lock # S64027 and cable lock # e98891. You may also be interested in the Softride Soft Hook-and-Loop Tie Downs # SR54FR to help keep your front tire from potentially damaging another bike or making contact with your vehicle. If any of your bikes have an alternative frame that doesn't have a horizontal cross tube like a traditional men's bike then an adapter bar like part # 64005 is recommended. This will help keep your bike level and increase ground clearance.
