Will the Swagman Rooftop Bike Carrier Fit on a Honda CR-V

Question:

I have a factory mounted rack with the distance from the front of the back cross bar to the front of the front crossbar of 27.5 inches. Will the rack work? How do you measure the distance?

The directions, see link, for the Swagman rooftop bike carrier, # S64720, actually state that the carrier should not be installed on crossbars any closer together than 700 millimeters, or 27.5589 inches. You should measure from the center of the front cross bar to the center of the rear cross bar.

I would say that at 27.5 inches you would have no problems as long as the weight of your bike and the bike carrier do not exceed the vehicles roof weight capacity, see owners manual, and the size of your factory cross bars will work with the hardware. If your roof cross bars are moveable, then you could spread them a bit to get 28 inches or slightly more for installation of the bike carrier.

The Rooftop Bike Carrier, item # S64720, comes with two sets of U-bolts to attach to most factory cross bars. The smaller size U-bolts measure 2 inches by 2 inches so your cross bars would have to be less than 2 inches thick and 2 inches wide or less. The larger U-bolts are 2 inches by 3-1/4 inches and your cross bars would have to be less than 2 inches thick and 3-1/4 inches wide or less.
