Invisibrake RM-8700 Brake Cable Routing on 2008 Chevrolet HHR
Question:
etrailer has two 2 videos on Youtube showing the install of a Invisibrake 8700. One is in a 2008 HHR and the other is a 2011 HHR. All HHR are the same. My question is, Which of the two installs has the better method for routing the brake cable from the air cylinder to the brake pedal. One method shows going along the kick panel, up the firewall and down the firewall to the brake pedal. The other goes under the carpet to the brake pedal. Thanks.

When installing Roadmaster InvisiBrake braking system # RM-8700 the cable from the brake pedal should be routed to provide the least amount of stress/resistance on that cable's jacketing.
Routing the cable along the kick panel is a less direct path but it avoids the concern of foot pressure on that cable if it were installed in a more direct path under the carpet. I would opt for the protected installation under the kick panel as shown in the video I linked for you.
