My Follow Leg Has Different Gearing Than the Lead Leg

Question:

The follow leg on my 1998 Nash 29.5 Fifth wheel gave out. I replaced it with this leg. The length was pretty close, but I did have to weld on a piece of steel as the side stops were not the same. But it works great other than it is geared significantly lower than the lead leg. Consequently, the new follow leg moves much, much slower and they end up vastly uneven. In fact, when taking the trailer off the truck, I tried to compensate for it, but I had to have the entire weight on the lead leg. My question is are they any options for just replacing the gears in the top of either of the legs to make them match? I have no idea what brand the original legs are as when I had them off, there were no markings. But from what I could guess from research is they might have been Atwood. I threw out the old leg so I do not know the number of teeth in those gears and I would have to totally dissemble the lead leg again to get to the gears. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I have an option to get the legs on your 1998 Nash 29.5 Fifth wheel to even out, but unfortunately gears are brand specific, so you won't be able to install replacement gears that will even out the gear ratio between two different brand legs.

The most efficient option is to replace the lead leg with the matching Replacement Lead Leg for Stromberg Carlson Landing Gear # LG-177202. Replacing the leg will enable you to keep the legs moving at the same speed and will even out your trailer.
