Towing Capacity for 1983 Skyline Class C Motorhome With C30 Engine
Question:
Hello! I have a GMC/Chevrolet motorhome built on a truck base, built in 1983 see pics. 1983 Skyline Class C labeled as C30 engine. I would like to know if it is possible to put a towbar see pic of the old tow bar I used for a small Hyundai Accent on the back of this to tow a 2018 RC 8 1/2 x 25 Enclosed All Sport Trailer see pic. I plan on filling the trailer up with my belongings from a broken relationship with ex-wife. I could only estimate an approximate weight of 5500-6000#. Can you tell me whether this is possible and/or recommended and what specs you would advise for towing this monsterous loaded trailer? If you need more info about the motorhome please let me know what you need to know! Best Regards As far as we are aware the frame has not been altered in any way, and it is the original motor and wiring for driving. The manufacturer is probably suburban trailers? We have made a photo of the labels on the van. It was registered in 1983.

Your photos didn't come through, but I think I can help with some information you provided. Your 1983 Skyline Motorhome does not have a specified towing rating that I can find. So, it sounds like you would be restricted by the total towing capacity of the hitch. The strongest RV hitch we have is the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver - 18"-51" Wide - 2" Drop - Class III - 2" # C13701 which has a max towing capacity of 5,000 lbs or 6,000 lbs when using weight distribution. This is the max capacity you will be able to tow.
