Recommended Low Profile Roof Box for a 2017 Ford Explorer

Looking to get approximate overall height with Thule Force XT Cargo Box installed. Traveling and hotel parks vehicle in a parking garage and concerned about height restrictions.

The Thule Force XT Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH6358B is 17-1/4" tall. If you measure from the roof to the top of your crossbars and then add that to the height of the cargo box and your vehicle, that will give you the overall new height of your vehicle with the cargo box installed.

If you are looking for more clearance then the best cargo box we have for that is the Thule Vector Alpine Rooftop Cargo Box part # TH613501 which offers slightly less cargo space at 153 cu ft compared to the 18 cu ft of the Force XT but it is also 4-3/4" shorter at 12-1/2" tall.

I have attached a review video of the Force XT for you as well. Unfortunately, we do not have any information on the height of your factory roof rack but a good guess would be anywhere from 3" - 5".
