Replacement for UFP HD1377 Trailer Hub/Drum

Question:

Hi, Youve suggested an alternative for this hub and drum to another customer, but the original UFP hub has a hole on the face of the drum. Is this hole for access or to aid with water drainage since this is for a boat trailer? Thank you.

From my research, the correct replacement for the UFP HD1377 hub/drum is the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly part # AKHD-545-35-K or the Dexter 5 on 4-1/2 Complete Hub-and-Drum Assembly part # 84546UC3. These hub/drums both use a L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) inner bearing and a L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) outer bearing.

The access hole you're referring to is more than likely used to monitor pad wear as it would not be for a drain. It could also help to dissipate the heat build up inside the drum.
