Question:
Has the tilt Down feature been tested in any Chevy Tahoe to make sure the door will clear it ? My Tahoe is a 2004 lift gate hatch style

I do have some great options that will work with your 2004 Chevy Tahoe but based on my calculations and some information gathered from similar racks it is possible that you will not be able to open the rear hatch on your Tahoe with the RockyMounts MonoRail # RKY10004 tilted.
What I recommend is a swing-away rack such as the RockyMounts BackStage 2 # RKY10002. With this style bike rack you can swing the bikes off to the side of the vehicle which will allow you to open the rear hatch. This will give you even more room to load or unload cargo than a tilting rack can. Take a look at the video I have linked for you showing how it works.
If you choose a hanging style rack such as the Element, and will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would), then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
