Installing a Replacement 7-Way Trailer Connector in a 2008 Chevy Silverado
Question:
I need to know what wires connect. The wires on my dads truck got cut and we are trying to fix it. 2008 chevy silverado 4 wheel drive gas tank 4 door

First trace those wires forward under the 2008 Chevy Silverado. They may go up above the spare tire. If they go into a round connector, then you can actually use # 30955 and just plug in the new 7-Way. But if the wires just go into a loom and not a plug then you would have to hardwire them in.
You will need to test the wires to verify the following information. Use a circuit tester such as # PTW2993 or a meter if you have one:
Yellow is likely left turn signal and brake lights
Dark green is likely right turn signal and brake lights
Brown is likely running/taillights
White is likely the ground
Light green is likely for reverse lights
There should be 2 wires left. One is probably blue, and it will be output from a brake controller to the trailer brakes. The other could be orange or black or even red and would be the 12-volt hot lead.
