Ok i got all the wires hooked upwhat is this orange wire left over.? What does it go to

The orange wire that doesn't get used in the brake controller wiring of your 2008 Silverado is for a third brake light signal. This is often referred to as the CHMSL and is most often used for a rear center brake light connection when using a camper or shell with that center brake light feature.
I've attached a video to show this in the installation.
