Are Settings Maintained on Draw-Tite Brake Controller, # 5504 If Trailer is Disconnected
Question:
Do you have to reset the unit each time you connect the trailer or will it retain settings until you reset it? How about if you simply shut the vehicle off for the night - do you need to reset it? Thx!

The Draw-Tite Act IV Brake Controller, part # 5504, does not need to be reset if the vehicle is shut off or every time you connect a trailer. It does retain the settings. Most brake controllers are designed with that feature.
The output control on the brake controller that is adjusted during initial setup, is fine if you are towing the same trailer, with the same load, in the same road conditions.
If you change trailers, the load on the trailer, or if the road conditions change you will want to re-adjust the output on the brake controller.
I am including a link to the instructions on the Draw-Tite brake controller and a link to a FAQ page on brake controllers.
