How to Prevent Trailer Sway on a Boat Trailer with Light Tongue Weight
Question:
I have a Lund Fishing Boat and with all the weight in the back, with motor, fuel, batteries, etc. my tongue weight is too light. Do you have any suggestions on how to get more tongue weight on the trailer to offset all the weight in the back.

If you are having troubles with trailer sway due to the light tongue weight of your boat trailer then I recommend adding a weight distribution system. In addition to helping level the tongue weight of the trailer this system will also work to reduce trailer sway. In order to find the correct system for you we would need to know your total tongue weight (TTW) which is composed of the loaded ready to tow tongue weight of the trailer added to any cargo stored behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle.
Once you find this total you can then choose a system from the options I have attached for you below. The most versatile meaning it will work with trailers that have surge brakes is the Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution System. This system also has four point sway control as opposed to most other systems that only have two point sway control. You will also more than likely need the Pole-Tongue Adapter for Equal-i-zer Weight Distribution Systems part # EQ95-01-5950.
Unfortunately, I do not have any other solutions for you aside from stating the obvious which is to move all the items you can forward of the boat trailer's axle.
