Best 4-Bike Rack for 2017 Ford F-150

Question:

With a ford F150. Saris freedom or yakima holdup Can one tilt the rack down, with Bikes loaded, and open tailgate? Your video with an F250 suggests this will work with the Saris. Any help would be appreciated. Trying to decide between these 2 for a 2017 F150 Thank you,

The Saris Freedom # SA4414B and Yakima HoldUp # Y02443-2 are both fantastic options; you have a great eye for bike racks.

Even though we have not test fit these on a 2017 Ford F-150, the majority of trucks we did test fit the Saris Freedom # SA4414B on allowed the rear tailgate to open with the bikes on and tilted down. You should be able to lower your gate with either rack.

I recommend going with the Yakima HoldUp # Y02413-2 for a number of reasons.

The HoldUp comes with an anti-rattle hitch lock to keep the rack secured to your truck; the Freedom has this available but you'd need to purchase it separately.

Additionally, the HoldUp has a 50 lb per bike weight capacity, which is 15 lbs more than the Freedom, and it is also 7" from the center of the hitch pin hole to the closest part of the rack when it is folded up (when the bikes are not on). That measurement is only 2" on the Freedom so you would need less than 2" from the center of your F-150's hitch pin hole to the outermost edge of the bumper in order to utilize the folding feature of the rack with the Freedom.

Both of these bike racks are premium options, but if it were me choosing between the two, I'd go with the HoldUp # Y02443-2.
