Can the Safety Cables on a Roadmaster Sterling Tow Bar be Used with MX Base Plates, 2011 Ford Escape
Question:
How do I attach the EZ Connect Safety Cables that come with the Sterling Tow Bar ? I had planned to install a 4414-3 baseplate on my 2011 Ford Escape. Thanks for your help.

According to Roadmaster on the MX style base plates, like # 4414-3, the safety chain anchor brackets for Sterling cables will not fit. To use these base plates with the Sterling tow bar, # RM-576, the Sterling cable anchors must be attached to the frame of the vehicle or welded to the receiver portion of the bracket.
You may need to use some extensions, like # RM-650648-10, and connectors, like # RM-910022, in order to attach them to the vehicle frame. If you choose to have them welded, the welding should be done by a qualified professional welder.
