Placement of the Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier # TH834 on a 2008 Jeep Commander

Question:

Hi Can you assist on what the minimum and maximum spacing would be for a 2008 Jeep Commander transporting Kayaks? Purchased: Crossbars Item: 82211457 Mfg: Mopar And using Thule 834 On the rails that come standard already on the Jeep there’s a series or locations of arrows running the length of theses rails, Where would someone locate the front crossbar and then space the length to the second one for Kayak transport. Thanks for any input.

I would start off by checking the instructions for the roof rack that you purchased. These typically have a specific location that the crossbars need to be installed.

When it comes to placement of the Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier # TH834 (if you have some freedom in placement from your instructions) it really just depends on what works best for your kayak. the instructions for the Hull-A-Port just state on page 1 that the crossbars must be at least 24" apart on center for it to work properly.
