Can Higher Capacity Trailer Tires be Used on Wheels with a Lower Capacity
Question:
Is it ok to use a Load range D tire at 65psi rated at 2150# with a rim rated for 1870#? I changed fron Load range C to D tires and am now worried about the rim strength. thanks

For tires and wheels you will want to go by the lowest rated component in the system. In this case it is the wheels. The higher psi would not be an issue, assuming the valve stem used is rated high enough, but the weight can be a problem. So as long as each of the tires on the trailer is holding less than 1,870 pounds you will be good to go.
