Troubleshooting Boat Trailer Lights Not Working with 2014 Ram 1500

Question:

I have a 2014 Ram 1500. This is the first time I have tried to tow with it. When I hook up my trailer I only have a right turn signal no other lights work. I have a 4 flat tester, plugged that into the truck and the same result. Only right signal worked. All the lights work on the truck, could this be a fuse causing the trailer lights not to work, or the wiring under the truck? Thank you!

It sounds like you were at least able to rule the trailer wiring out as the issue, so you can focus all your attention on your Ram 1500. It's certainly possible that a blown fuse is preventing power from getting back to the 4-Way connector at the rear of the truck. I took a look at the online owner's manual for your 2014 Ram 1500 and there are several locations you will want to check inside the power distribution center located in the engine compartment (near the battery). They are as follows:

F28 - 20 amp yellow fuse - trailer backup lights
F29 - 20 amp yellow fuse - trailer parking lights
F30 - 30 amp pink fuse - trailer tow receptacle
F53 - 20 amp yellow fuse - trailer L turn/stop signals
F81 - 20 amp yellow fuse - trailer R turn/stop signals

I recommend checking these fuses to make sure they are all present and in good condition.

If the fuses look good, head back to the 4-Way again and inspect the connector itself for any debris or corrosion that might be built up behind the pins. Make sure the wires going into the connector are secure and there aren't any damaged or exposed sections.

If you are still having issues, please let me know and I will be happy to look into this further. I have also attached a wiring troubleshooting article that you might find helpful.
