Parts Needed to Carry 2 Bikes at the Rear of a 2017 Lexus RX 350

Question:

I am looking for a removable rear bike rack to fit my 2017 Lexus RX 350. I see the Thule TH45JV is recommended for a 2013 RX 350 but will it work on my 2017 RX 350. I also would need the adapter bar for my wife's bike, I believe.

Although the Thule OutWay # TH45JV does fit a 2013 Lexus RX 350 you will either need to use a roof mount bike rack or a hitch mount bike rack for your 2017 as none of our bike rack manufacturers have any trunk mounted options that fit.

I recommend going with a hitch mounted option because your bikes will be much easier to load, a trailer hitch is typically much more cost-effective than a roof rack, and the only one that fits your Lexus, the Curt # C13272, is only rated a 3 out of 10 for difficulty. This means that you should be able to install it at home fairly easily even if you don't have much experience working on cars. I have attached an installation video on a similar 2017 RX 350 for you to reference.

For a bike rack I highly recommend the Kuat Beta # B202-114. This is a lightweight (12.6 lb) bike rack that can hold up to 2 bikes weighing 40 lbs each. It has a 1-1/4" shank but will fit the Curt hitch with the Adapter # D101. The Beta comes in a box fully assembled and uses an integrated anti-wobble device to reduce the amount of play that you see when you are going down the road.

Another great thing about this bike rack is that the arms are only 8" apart (on center) which greatly reduces the need for an adapter bar like part # UB01. The hitch lock # HL2 and cable lock # e98891 can also be purchased to deter theft of both the bike rack and your bikes.

I have attached a review video of the Beta for you to check out as well.
