Blue Screen on Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002

Question:

I have a 2002 Ford F150 with a Smart Hitch #50002 camera and sensor system installed in spring of 2014. Everything worked fine for about 2 years then I lost the horizontal lines and the audio signal. After approx. 4 years I lost the video signal but still had a blue screen on the monitor. The wiring does not appear to be frayed or cut anywhere along the way. I am suspecting the connection at the rear but have not checked it because it is not easy to access. Any suggestions.

Since the display on the Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera # HM50002 comes on that indicates that it is getting power. The blue screen though means that it is not receiving a signal from the camera. that could be the camera itself or the wiring from the camera to the monitor.

The only way to know is to inspect the wiring and fix any pinched or damaged wires. If you still have problems then there is something wrong with the camera part and the whole unit will need to be replaced. The camera is not available by itself.
