Recommended Brake Controller for Travel Trailer when Dash Mounted Brake Controller is Not Available

I drive multiple Toyota company vehicles usually 4Runners, Highlanders and Tacomas during the year and I need an purhase an electronic brake controller to tow my double axle travel trailer and I can’t permanently mount controllers to the dashboard. What product do you recommend in my case?

For your travel trailer, I recommend the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # TK94FR. This brake controller installs to your trailer and not your vehicle dash so you can have a proportional brake controller on your trailer and utilize the handheld remote that simply needs the 12V power connection on your dash to work.

As long as your tow vehicle has a 7-way with 12V power, it doesn't need to have a brake controller connection to use this controller. It will capture the brake signal through your trailer connector and will use the internal sensor to detect decelleration to determine the braking pressure needed based on your desired settings.
