One of the best brake controllers we have for your 2009 Mercedes-Benz ML350 is the Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Trailer Brake Controller part # 90885. The Prodigy P2 is a proportional brake controller which means it will apply braking to the trailer in the same force that they are applied in the tow vehicle. The things that make this brake controller stand out amongst the competitors is that it has integrated safeguards to protect both the trailer/vehicle and it has continuous diagnostics checks for easy troubleshooting.
Your ML350 does not have a brake controller port under the dash so you will need to hardwire the controller in using the Wiring Kit part # 5506 if there are not blunt cut wires under the dash with the brake control functions. I have attached a review and sample install video for you as well.
