Recommended Bike Rack with Swing Away Feature for a 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
Question:
Would like a 2” hitch mount rack that when folded down allows me to open the rear door. Not so concerned when bikes on the rack but when not using rack would be nice to leave it on and be able to open rear door. Rack has to be beefy enough for 2 ebikes at 50 lbs each Thanks

I do have an option for you but I am not aware of any bike rack that will fold down far enough in order for you to swing open the rear hatch on your 2014 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. Instead, you will want to look into a bike rack with a swing away feature. The swing away feature will allow you to open the rear hatch on your Jeep without having to remove the bike rack or bikes.
For this, I recommend the RockyMounts BackStage 2 Bike Platform Rack part # RKY10002 which is currently the only bike rack we have that has the swing away feature and will also carry two 50 lb electric bikes. This is a platform style bike rack that will make it much easier to load/unload your heavy e-bikes compared to a standard hanging rack. The rack can accept tires up to 5" wide, has sliding wheel trays to accommodate bikes with different wheelbases, and comes with locks for both the bikes and rack.
I have attached a test course video of the bike rack in action for you as well.

I am interested in this rack for my2019 Jeep Wrangler. I have a standard Mopar 2 inch hitch receiver. Will this rack work with an 8 inch receiver extension? The video mentions 9 inches but that extender does not exist Thanks
