Ways to Identify Correct Replacement Wheel Bearings for 2000 Coleman Cheyenne Pop-Up  

Question:

I just took my axcel apart going to repack them . thought I would get the numbers off them to buy replacement and couldnt get any numbers can you help me with out pulling the hub back off? Thank you.

There are a few ways to find out what set of bearings is used in your trailer hubs. One way (the best way) is to pull a hub and remove the bearings to find their part numbers. Another way is to find the camper's VIN and contact Coleman with it; there is a chance they might have this information even though the trailer is 18 years old. The only other way, which again requires removing a hub, is to precisely measure your spindle at the 3 points shown in the linked diagram (B, C and D) using a precision caliper that can read to the nearest thousandth of an inch.

I urge you to bite the bullet and pull a hub again. Not only does this give you the most direct way to find the specific bearing part numbers you need but it also gives you the chance to clean off and inspect your spindles for signs of wear. This too is an important part of normal trailer maintenance; please see the linked article. You do need to thoroughly wipe off all grease from both the bearings and spindle. Bearing numbers are usually lightly stamped into the housing as shown in the diagram.
