For the proper extension for your trailer you will want to measure from the center of the hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch to the location you want the extender's hitch pin hole to be. I've attached the page for all of your options, but you will want to note the towing capacity as well as the fact that many extenders will reduce the tongue weight of your hitch by 50%. The additional length increases the torque on your hitch receiver, so it will significantly reduce your towing capacity base on tongue weight. Some extenders like the Curt # C45048 and the Reese # RP45292 don't have the blanket 50% capacity loss but do have the rated capacities based on their design which includes a bend.

Your trailer tongue weight is normally the deciding factor of whether you need to upgrade your trailer hitch for hitch extender and trailer compatibility.
