Recommended Suspension Enhancement for 2016 Ram 1500
Question:
I need a recommendation for suspension enhancement for my 2016 Ram 1500. Our new trailer has a tongue weight of 837 lbs. with a GVWR 7837 lbs. i have a weight distribution hitch but the vehicle still sagged in the rear with the headlights point to the stars. Well not exactly but i endured many a flashing high beam from on coming vehicles. Not sure what the best solution is for my Ram. I would rather not sacrifice unloaded ride comfort since most of the driving would be unloaded.

For your 2016 Ram 1500, I recommend using the SumoSprings Solo Custom Helper Springs - Rear Axle # SSR-307-47. These springs will install in your factory bumpstop location and will only engage to the capacity needed to level your ride. They have progressive load control, so the springs compress easily at first for soft engagement and a less bumpy ride but with heavier loads the springs compress by as much as 80 percent for support. They are maintenance free and won't affect the comfort of your unloaded driving.
If you want adjustability, then I recommend upgrading the system to the Firestone Coil Rite # F4185 if you have the factory coil suspension. This kit comes with manual inflation valves and is adjustable from 5 to 70 psi as desired for load leveling. If you want to add a compressor I recommend the single path # F2158 or the dual path # F2178. The single path will give you equal pressure in both springs. The dual path allows you to adjust each spring individually for off center loads.
