Husky Weight Distribution System Recommendation for 8,000 lb Trailer

Question:

I am looking for HUSKY TOWING BAR to drive the trailer weight of 8,000 lbs for 2 units. I found the product on your web. But I get confused when you say 8000lbs GTW, and 800lbs TW. Can you explain to me? Am I right if I buy this product to tow the trailer weight of 8000lbs? HT32217. Thanks much for your kind assistance.

The best way to pick out a weight distribution system is to base it off of the loaded tongue weight of the setup when it is loaded and ready to tow. This figure also includes the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of the tow vehicle. I attached a help article on determining tongue weight for you to check out as well. You will want the loaded tongue weight of your setup to fall right in the middle of the tongue weight range of the system you use.

If your trailer weighs a total of 8,000 lbs you'd most likely have a tongue weight of between 800 and 1,200 lbs. That would put you higher than what the Husky # HT32217 requires so it would not be your ideal solution. The similar Husky kit you'd want instead would be the part # HT32218 which has a range of 800 lbs - 1,200 lbs which would be perfect.
