Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring that Blows Fuse When Connected to Trailer
Question:
My 2015 Kia Sorento wiring controller and harness was replaces twice and we have the same problem. When hooking up my trailer it blows a fuse but when I hook up the trailer to my wifes 2013 GMC Terrain it works. Explain that. I will go to home Depo and try hooking up to there trailer and see if the fuse blows.

What fuse is blowing? It's very possible the amperage rating of the harness installed on the Sorento is lower than your GMC Terrain and it's just drawing too much. If the fuse blows immediately that would indicate a short somewhere. You might test the converter box too to rule it out as the problem.
What you will want to do is test the wires going into the box of the converter box for voltage with a circuit tester like the # PTW2993 to see if there is voltage going into the box when the taillight functions of your vehicle are applied, and then test the output side of the box to see if the current is making it through the converter. If not then the problem is that the converter box has shorted itself out and would need to be replaced.
