Adapter Recommendation for Towing Trailer and Carrying Bike Rack at Same Time

Question:

I purchased your Multipurposed ballmount hitch #D210 to pull my 2300lb popup camper in combination with a bike rack. Unfortunately, my camper tongue has a braking system that wont allow the bike rack to fit in because it requires a minimum of 8inch clearance between the ball and the top hitch. I found the RoadMaster #RM 077-8 and the MaxxTow #MT70070 on your webpage. Would either of these mounts work for my set up? Im guessing the tongue weight of the trailer with the bike rack is going to be around 400lbs. Thanks for you help. Regards,

Of the two adapters you mentioned only the MaxxTow MT70070 is rated for use with your application of towing a trailer and carrying a bike rack with the top hitch. Downside is that it cuts the capacity of the hitch you use it with by 50 percent. A better option might be the Bike Bunk part # CC-275. This installs by attaching to the frame rails of the trailer and gives you a hitch opening for a bike rack up above it avoiding the clearance issue you mentioned.
